  GATHERING

Welcome

Prelude           Gracious Spirit, Dwell with Me |  Redhead/Smith

Call to Worship

Votum

This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and let us be glad in it.”

                            Amen

Opening Sentences

In a world where lies surround us,
your word is like fire, God nearby!
In a world full of false prophets and empty promises,
your word is like fire, God nearby!
In a world where words don’t have meaning,
your word is like fire, God nearby!
We are here, ready for our faith to be kindled by your word.
We are here to worship the God who is nearby!

*Hymn of Praise   Guide My Feet

Call to Confession

Gathered before the throne of God’s infinite mercy, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, confessing our need for grace.

 Prayer of  Confession

Loving Creator, with a gardener’s tender touch, you planted your people to bear good fruit, but we bear wild grapes. With a welder’s fierce fire, you fashioned your people to glorify you, but we are riddled with  impurities.
In your generous mercy, O God, regard the vine you planted:   save and  restore us. Reform the vessel you crafted: cleanse and refine us. Give us life, O God, that with our whole being, we may worship you rightly.

 Assurance of Pardon

Jesus endured the cross and disregarded its shame for the sake of the joy that was set before him. That joy is our salvation. His joy is our freedom. Believe the good news:
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

    The Law of God

*Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

*Commitment to Peace Keeping and Peace Seeking

One: May the peace of Christ be with you!

All: And also with you!

Share a sign of peace with one another. After sharing the peace, let us all sing together:

Together, by grace, we witness and work, remembering Jesus, in whom we grow strong. Together we serve in Spirit and truth, remembering love is the strength of our song.

Silent Reflection

THE RESPONSE TO GOD

*Affirmation of Faith (Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I       believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was  buried; He descended to hell.  The third day he rose again from the dead.  He ascended to  heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.  From there He will come to judge the  living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life  everlasting.  Amen.

Offering   Softly and Tenderly | Brown

Doxology                      Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him all creatures here below;

Praise him above ye heavenly hosts; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen!

Prayer of Dedication

Prayer of  Thanksgiving and Intercession (ending with the Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.  Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we  forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the  Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever.   Amen.

Congregational Response Christ is risen! Earth and heaven Nevermore shall be the same.

Break the bread of new creation  Where the world is still in pain
