 As Family, Be Friends
by Rev. Kathryn Henry
May 13, 2012
The Gospel of John reminds us that as family, we are also friends, in two ways. We are friends with Jesus and we are friends to one another. And what does it mean to be a friend? “This is my commandment,” Jesus tells the disciples, “that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
 Abide in Love
by Rev. Kathryn Henry
May 6, 2012
On these Sundays immediately following the celebration of Easter – four weeks ago now – we are looking closely at some (and only some) of the implications of what it means to be Easter people, people for whom the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a central fact that touches the way we live our whole lives. The tomb is empty – Jesus is at large, on the loose, present. So all that we say and do, all that we think and feel and imagine, we do in the presence of the living God. We had better be attentive, careful and honest.

 Do Justice
by Rev. Kathryn Henry
Apr 29, 2012
We know we are walking in the way when we pay attention to the needs of those around us. As John the letter-writer said: How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? And: we know love by this, that he laid down his life for us – and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
 Day By Day
by Rev. Kathryn Henry
Apr 22, 2012
The exciting and challenging truth is that the resurrected Jesus enters into the whole fabric of our lives. Make no mistake: The God we say we believe in actually exists and surrounds us with every move we make and every breath we take.

 The Tie That Binds
by Rev. Kathryn Henry
Apr 15, 2012
What is this “tie that binds our hearts in Christian love”? What is the “fellowship of kindred minds”? What is it that Christians share, that they think alike about? What makes us “kindred” spirits?
 Easter Meditation
by Rev. Kathryn Henry
Apr 7, 2012
I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. I was dead and behold I am alive forever and ever. Because I live, you also will live...

 On the Path With Believers
by Rev. Kathryn Henry
Mar 25, 2012
The meaning of Jesus – his life, suffering and death – is to save humanity, in this world and for the next. God’s promise of salvation is fulfilled, God’s word is proven, on Easter, when the resurrection of Jesus is accomplished.
On the Path With Other Fools
by Rev. Kathryn Henry
Mar 11, 2012
Our task in the church, in the world and in life is to live the incarnation, to live the message of the cross – to discern what is truly wise and what is really foolish. In doing so, we will walk the path that Jesus laid out for us, along with other fools.
