Food Bank Network Urges
Your Support For
‘Backpacks for Hungry Kids’ Program Backpacks and Hungry Kids? How do they go together? Joe Casale, a member of the board of the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, was our Moment for Mission special guest on Sunday, October 9. At this service, he described the newest outreach program of the Food Bank, one that provides easy-to-carry bags of food for school children. The students put the food in their backpacks on a Friday and then take it home.
Why?
They take home this food because hundreds of kids in our own Somerset County live in families where their parents are not able to provide nutritious meals for them over the weekend.
How can you help?
Donations are greatly needed to fund the program. The cost of a backpack of food for one child is $8.00 per week. At present, more than 400 backpacks are being filled each week. And that number increases weekly.
If you can help, please write a check made payable to the
Food Bank Network of Somerset County
with “Backpack Program” noted on the memo line.
And if you would like to help assemble the bags,
